(EDITOR'S NOTE: The following is from the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce.)

It is with great enthusiasm that we very pleased to share with you our 2012 Parade Marshal for the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Parade – Lee Swanson!

Considering the theme for this year’s parade is Sudbury: Past, Present and Future, having Lee honor us as our Parade Marshal is very fitting considering he is also Sudbury’s official historian.

The truth though goes much further as while Lee’s title is of course meaningful, the reasons for his selection extend way beyond his role as the official historian for Sudbury. Lee is a long time Sudbury resident and our Parade Committee feels he is a wonderful representative of the community and its values. Traditionally we have looked to fill our Parade Marshal role with someone who has contributed to the community in ways that are at times public but more often than not the contributions this individual makes tend to be behind the scenes and in ways that often are not very visible.

Lee can often be found around town walking with his dog, his own personal historian!

The entire Parade Committee is thrilled that Lee has generously agreed to honor our parade by serving as our 2012 Marshal and so on behalf of the entire Sudbury Chamber of Commerce we again are very pleased to share this announcement with you. We all look forward to see Lee next week in the Parade!
