Come play and join the fun. Kindergarten through 9th Grade! The following programs will be offered by Sudbury Girls Softball during this Spring 2012 season.
KINDERGARDEN: In this 6 week clinic, players who are new to softball or baseball have fun learning the following skills: Throwing, Catching, Hitting, Fielding, Base running, Basic game rules (e.g. positions, how to make an out)
MINORS - GRADES 1 and 2: Emphasis on: Game play (coaches pitch or hit off a tee), continuing skill building (hitting, fielding, catching, throwing, base running), learning all positions. There is at least one practice and one game per week.
JUNIOR - GRADES 3 and 4: The focus continues on skill building with the introduction of pitching and catching skills. There is at least one practice and one game per week.
INTERMEDIATE - GRADES 5 and 6: League play with a more ASA (Amateur Softball Association of America)-based game: stealing, sliding, tagging up. All skills are reinforced, including pitching and catching. ASA is the governing body for most high school and college leagues. There is at least one practice and one game per week.
SENIOR LEAGUE – GRADES 7, 8 AND 9: Competitive League play that brings it all together with a faster paced ASA-game that includes more specific rules (e.g. dropped third strike, infield fly). There is at least one practice and one game per week.
