State Senate Hopeful Mara Dolan Racks Up Another Endorsement
(EDITOR'S NOTE: The following was submitted by Anthony Morse.)
The Massachusetts Coalition of Police (Mass C.O.P) has announced its endorsement of Mara Dolan for State Senate in the 3rd Middlesex District.
Dolan has received endorsements from several major unions as Mass C.O.P. joins the Boston Teachers Union, Pipefitters Local 537 and Mass Retirees Association in support of her campaign.
Dolan continues to be the only candidate in the race with labor union endorsements.
"As a public defender, I know how hard police officers work to protect public safety, and I have the greatest respect for them," said Dolan. "They put their lives on the line every day, and work long, hard hours to keep us and our local businesses safe. We need to be taking care of our police officers the way they take care of us. Police officers deserve our support, and our deepest thanks."
For more than 32 years the Massachusetts Coalition of Police has represented police officers, and today the union has 187 locals with 3,600 law enforcement professionals across the Commonwealth.
"It is important to have someone with Mara Dolan's commitment to the safety of the citizens of the Commonwealth working with police officers," said Kenneth Scanzio, legislative chairman for the executive board of the Massachusetts Coalition of Police. "We look forward to her continued support to police officers and the community."

why do local unions have a stake in our local election? I am a little concerned about this. I want my state senator to be working for the schools in our district not ones in Boston, etc.!
