(EDITOR'S NOTE: The following was submitted by Maria Romero.)
Sudbury Cooperative Preschool is accepting applications for fall 2012 in its 2— and 3—year—old programs. Call 978-‐443-‐9391 to find out more about the school and schedule a tour.
The Toddler Program is for children 2.0 years by October 1, 2012 and is a gentle transition from home to school. The emphasis is on building independence and self-confidence while nurturing early friendships. The program is designed as an introduction to the world of school and meets two days a week. Highly creative activities and ever-‐ changing choices are the basis for the Toddler curriculum. Age appropriate skills, while often subtle, are embedded in the children’s activities. Our curriculum encourages language, numeracy, and scientific thinking.
Our 3-year-old class meets three days a week. Children will learn to see themselves as problem solvers. Whether the problem is where to place a puzzle piece, how to negotiate with peers or how to explain what happened in a story, the children in the 3-‐ year-‐old class quickly learn the critical thinking and social skills that will help them use creative play to find solutions. The class offers a consistent and safe routine of daily activities while engaging children’s curiosity and creativity.
Our teachers make home visits prior to the start of school to meet each child in the most comfortable setting possible. Shortened classes in September lengthen progressively over the first few weeks of school. Parents are welcome to stay in the classroom as long as needed, to ease separation anxiety.
Sudbury Cooperative Preschool, established in 1949, is a parent-run, teacher‐staffed cooperative that offers programs for two‐ to five‐year-olds. Unique among area preschools, we offer parents the opportunity to actively participate in their children's success.
