“Coach Cate” Dill was honored on April 11 at an assembly of her gym students at Curtis Middle School with the annual Jane Coddington Memorial Award (named for the co-founder of Sustainable Sudbury).
The award honors outstanding achievements in environmental action. In remarks honoring Dill, the committee noted her passion for motivating America to keep fit through exercise, healthy eating to fight obesity and improve health and her care for the environment.
In a demonstration of her passion, Dill walked, biked and skied more than 5,000 miles from Santa Barbara, Calif. to Sudbury last year, lecturing at schools along the way to school children about her passion.
An avid biker, she plans even more promotions to increase physical activity to improve the nation’s health. She also led the successful “Get on your Bike to Celebrate Healthy Living” program, Bike Sudbury, last September.
This was the 12th honor awarded by Sustainable Sudbury since 2000. To learn more about the awards and the work of Sustaitinable Sudbury, visit Sustainablesudbury.org.
