Dear Town Manager,
I suggest you refrain from adding your opinion in the Manager's report. You say "In an effort to make lemonade out of lemons". This is important to many people as evidenced by the amount of signatures. People excercising their rights to govern is not something you should be critical of. In fact, you don't live in town, so please don't be critical of those who do. I think you owe an apology to the people of Sudbury. This is unacceptable behavior from a Town Manager.

At Gettysburg, Lincoln worried and wrote that "a government of the people, by the people, and for the people" might perish from the earth.

Some historians feel Lincoln took some inspiration from precedences set in the landmark case of Marbury vs. Madison.

Everything that the founding fathers feared is now manifest at all levels (Federal, State, and local) of government. This is particulary true in Sudbury since the Town went to the TM form of government.

The petition is valid. While it is unlikely that Tom Conroy, or the Lavender crowd will be pleased, the people asked for and will get this small victory in accordance with the law of the land.

We don't need to hear the Queen tell us that the people who signed the petition were somehow fooled or tricked in some way and that only the Royal Crown knows what's best for the masses.

Haven't they learned anything from Lavender?

Let's throw some water and noodles in the harbor and call it "Tea Party the Sequel".

If you are seeking information on what is happening within the departments here in Sudbury, this is a great place to get it. See Finance Department news, or DPW or Board of Health and more.

I do not hold that position in town. I work only on Building Applications, streamlining processes, and assist in collecting information on the Town Manager's newsletter. Just want to make that clear. Thank you. The newsletter is the result of many many residents asking about things happening in town, the TM thought this is a great way to inform the citizens about just that.

Kdroop,
Thank you for the response. Can you let us all know when and where this consultant position was posted? I searched the Town Website and could not find any mention of this position. Thanks, and Congratulation!

'a citizen following the rules that have been set up by our local goverment.'

These rules are actually set out in Massachusetts General Law Chapter 39 Section 10, which includes the following language:

The selectmen shall call a special town meeting upon request in writing, of two hundred registered voters or of twenty per cent of the total number of registered voters of the town, whichever number is the lesser; such meeting to be held not later than forty-five days after the receipt of such request, and shall insert in the warrant therefor all subjects the insertion of which shall be requested by said petition.

Shame on me for thinking that our Town Manager was actually taking the time to write that newsletter herself. Now we find out that KDroop has been doing it all along. You mean to tell me that we're paying someone to write that monthly piece of crap? Please, please, please tell me that overrides are behind us. The way we waste money around here I can't believe that we just passed a 3% tax increase at the last town meeting.

J. Joseph, been there for over a year. Thrice, if you read my response, you would see I gather information from departments. The Town Manager writes her own newsletter. I think if you read it, you will find much useful information the taxpayer would be interested in. Hope you find some useful information within.
