On Saturday, Jan 5, at the Father Diamond Indoor Track Invitational hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., Georgetown University sophomore Andrea Keklak (Sudbury, Mass.) qualified for both the BIG EAST and ECAC Championships with a fifth-place finish in the 500m (1:15.17). the Bowdoin College men's basketball team ran past Plymouth State University, 75-53 in its second semester opener. Sophomore center John Swords (Sudbury, Mass.) chipped in with two points, seven rebounds and three blocks in the win.
In their first action of 2013, Endicott's women's basketball team dropped their second consecutive slim decision, falling 51-47 at Salem State University on Wednesday evening at the O'Keefe Center. Sophomore point guard Katelyn Wright (Sudbury, Mass.) had three points in the loss.
The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team was edged 63-60 in overtime Wednesday night by the University of Vermont at Patrick Gymnasium. Elizabeth Belanger (Acton, Mass.) had five points and four rebounds for UNH.
WPI trailed early but utilized a first-half offensive surge to push past Saint Joseph's, 58-45, in non-conference men's basketball action at the Harold Alfond Center on Wednesday afternoon. Sam Longwell (Acton, Mass.) had eight points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals for WPI.
The nation's #9 team – Tufts University – built a 25-point first half lead and then held off host Clark University's second-half comeback to remain undefeated with a 65-53 win in non-league women's basketball action on Wednesday evening. Hannah Foley (Acton, Mass.) finished with 14 points for Tufts.
