Local animal lovers showed their concern for homeless dogs and cats this holiday season by donating more than $2,500 worth of food, toys and treats to Best Friends Pet Care’s Animal Angel Tree campaign.  

All donations will benefit the homeless pets cared for by Buddy Dog Humane Society.

“We are thrilled with the response of our clients and friends to this year’s Angel Tree campaign,” said Liz Gill-Cano, manager of Best Friends Pet Care. “The holiday season is always difficult for the shelters and we know these donations will make a difference for pets in need. 

“The holiday season is always difficult for our local animal shelters. This year, Hurricane Sandy has put an even bigger burden on shelters because so many lost and abandoned pets need help. We know our Angel Tree program will make a difference for many pets in need.” 

Best Friends offers boarding, grooming and doggy day camp at 150 Boston Post Road in Sudbury, and at 40 other locations across the U.S. The Animal Angel Tree campaign, now in its 12^th year, is one way the company gives back to the community. 

Since the campaign began, it has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of food, toys and pet care products for more than 100 different shelters and rescues across the U.S.
