Bicyclist Who Was Hit by Sudbury Driver in Critical Condition
A Newton man was struck by an SUV in Wayland Wednesday morning.
It appears, according to Wayland Police, that bicyclist Charles Abele collided with the passenger side of the SUV as the vehicle turned left from Route 20 onto Glen Road Wednesday morning.
Wayland Police Chief Robert Irving said there was a bicycle helmet at the scene when he arrived, which he assumes Abele was wearing when the accident occurred.
Abele's condition remained critical on Thursday morning, according to a spokesperson for Boston Medical Center.

MedFlight transported a Newton man to Boston Medical Center this morning after he was struck by an SUV while riding a bike in Wayland.
According to Wayland Police, 51-year-old Charles Abele of 79 Dickerman Road in Newton was riding a bike on Route 20 (Boston Post Road) near Glen Road when he was struck around 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The driver of the SUV, Robert Dooley of Sudbury, was not injured in the collision.
Police found Abele in the roadway with serious injuries when they arrived on the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
