Carpenter Announces Superintendent Award Recipients
Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School Superintendent Scott Carpenter has named this year’s recipients of the Superintendent Awards for Excellence.
Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School Superintendent Scott Carpenter had high words of praise for the recipients of this year’s Superintendent Awards for Excellence.
Two boys stood out in a field of students who all achieve high levels of academic and personal excellence, Carpenter said. He said after numerous conversations with staff and counselors, he chose Sam Chen and Jeremy Cohen for the awards.
Carpenter said Chen, 17, opted to take L-S’s most challenging courses and has done exceedingly well in all of them. He also noted Chen’s role as a mentor for young boys who play lacrosse.
“Every lacrosse parent wants their son to work with Sam,” he said.
Carpenter described Cohen, 18, as “driven to succeed but also rooted in reality.” He noted Cohen’s role as a leader on the school’s successful debate team.
The awards were given to them at the start of Tuesday night’s School Committee meeting at the high school.
“That was the highlight of this meeting,” one committee member commented.
