Chelsea Man Faces Shoplifting Charge From TJ Maxx
The following arrest information was supplied by the Sudbury Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Two Sudbury police officers who happened to be walking across the parking lot of Sudbury Crossing Friday afternoon helped stop an alleged shoplifter.
At about 12:18 p.m., the officers noticed an Hispanic man running running out of TJ Maxx, according to Lt. Scott Nix. After confronting Raymond Vargas, 41, of Addison Street in Chelsea, officers noticed a bulge in his jacket. As Vargas turned around, clothing with TJ Maxx tags still attached were noticed.
At that time, a manager from the clothing store came out to say the clothes, valued at about $110, were stolen.
Vargas was arrested and charged with shoplifting. After conducting a background check, police found this was Vargas' second offense.
He was released at 2:14 p.m. and was scheduled to be arraigned at Framingham District Court on Tuesday.
