Five Things to Start Your Day: Dec. 28
A few facts, figures and tidbits to end your workweek.
Friday: Colder and breezy. Mostly sunny. Mid 30s.
Saturday: Sunshine fades behind thickening clouds and light snow breaking out by midday. Low/mid 30s. So far a light 2-4 is possible, but we're watching this storm for the POTENTIAL for greater accumulation.
Sunday: Partly sunny, windy and cold. Low 30s. Wind chills in the upper 10s to low 20s for the Pats game! Dress in layers!!
2. ORDER YOUR GIRL SCOUT COOKIES: Keep an eye out for Girl Scout troops selling cookies at tables outside your favorite local retail stores and going door-to-door in your neighborhood, and offered for sale by parents or relatives at your place of business.
Your purchase means you get tasty cookies — and a girl learns a lifetime of skills, such as goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
The money earned from cookie activities helps the troop partake in service projects, go on field trips, purchase patches, attend summer camp and so much more. In addition, girls give back to others during the sale through a program known as Cookies for a Cause. Girls sell boxes of cookies that are set aside to be donated to soldiers overseas or to a local food pantry. This meaningful element of the Girl Scout cookie program helps girls develop business ethics and feel that they are helping
Girl Scout cookies are $4 a box.

And, it arrives at just the perfect time of year ... a few days after Christmas. The holiday hustle and bustle is over. The kids are getting bored of their new toys. It's time to turn to card games for a calmer, relaxing, and more slow-paced form of fun and entertainment.
