In conjunction with First Parish of Sudbury, HOPEsudbury is collecting new or gently used backpacks plus:

• pens
• pencils
• erasers
• paper
• rulers
• notepads
• markers
• binders
• tape
• scissors
• pencil cases
• calculators.

This is a benefit for Mary's House and the Family Shelters of Middlesex Human Service Agency.

2. FAMILY: End of Summer Party with Face Painting and a Magic Show

Come celebrate the end of the summer with face painting and a magic show from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Bright Horizons. This event is for families and children from ages 1 to 7.

3. ART & ENTERTAINMENT: The Performing Arts Connection Open Studio

From 4-7 p.m., enjoy free sample classes, meet and greet faculty members, tour the studio, register for classes and workshops, and much more at The Performing Arts Connection.

4. SPORTS & RECREATION: Sudbury Swim Team registration

Sudbury Swim Team registration opens today.  Swimmers age 7 to 13 should register by Sept. 15 at www.sudburyswimteam.org.

Tryouts for new registrants will be held at Atkinson Pool. The date will be determined soon and will be posted on the team website.

5. SPORTS & RECREATION: Equestrian team registration

The North Gate Equestrian Team is registering now for the 2011-2012 competition season. The team is open to boys and girls in sixth to 12th grade.

The team is a member of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) and competes locally and nationally as a team and individually. For more information on IEA, visit www.rideIEA.com.

To join the Team, riders must be able to walk, trot and canter in a group on different horses. You do not have to own a horse to compete.
