Five Things You Need to Know Today: June 15
State Rep. Tom Conroy holding office hours today.
1. GOVERNMENT: Tom Conroy holds office hours
State Rep. Tom Conroy has announced his local office hours in Sudbury. Constituents are encouraged to come meet the representative, share their views on relevant topics, and bring important issues to the his attention.
No appointments are necessary and meetings are held on a first-come, first-serve basis. Office hours and location for today is 4:30-5 p.m. at Goodnow Library (small meeting room, second floor).
2. ORGANIZATIONS: Books in Bloom group
Do you love to read and also like arranging fresh or silk flowers? Come to the Books in Bloom Book Group at Goodnow Library to combine these two interests and share them with a group.
This new book discussion/flower arranging group meets on the second Friday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Small Conference Room at the library with the goal of choosing a book to discuss each month and interpreting it with fresh or silk flower arrangements to be made by participants at home and brought to the meeting. The flower arrangements should be symbolic of the characters or themes in the book. No expertise is needed.
June's title is: Minding Frankie by Maeve Binchy, a tale of joy, heartbreak and hope, about a motherless girl collectively raised by a close-knit Dublin community. Books can be picked up at the library.
This program is free and sponsored by Goodnow Library.
3. BENEFIT: Mini book sale
Just in time for summer, the Friends of Goodnow Library will hold a Mini Book Sale today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Library’s Community Meeting Room. There will be a selection of gently used adult paperback fiction, children’s books, DVDs and audiobooks available at bargain prices. Admission is free and proceeds from this sale will benefit Library services and programs. This is a terrific opportunity to stock up on summer reading and support your library at the same time.
