Five Things You Need to Know Today: May 18

Mock crash at Lincoln-Sudbury, charity golf tournament at Wayland Country Club and Relay for Life among events happening today.

 

1. AWARENESS: Mock crash

The LSRHS club S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and Duckett Funeral Home are sponsoring a mock crash at 9 a.m. at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. Members of the Sudbury police and fire departments will be on hand to help in the demonstration.

2. CHARITY: All Sports Boosters Golf Classic

Come by the Wayland Country Club for a fun-filled day of golf while supporting the L-S All Sports Boosters Club. Many exciting raffle items will be available throughout the day including the new iPad 3.

Each year, an L-S Boosters Club board member meets with the L-S athletic director, coaches and team leaders to determine how the Boosters Club can best support all 33-plus L-S sports teams. Since 1991, L-S Sports Boosters has donated more than $769,000 to L-S athletics.

3. CHARITY: Relay for Life

The Relay for Life of Lincoln/Sudbury is an event sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The Relay celebrates cancer survivors, remembers those we have lost to cancer and recognizes caregivers. This is a family friendly event with a dunk tank, a moonbounce and performances by The Hip Hop Mamas, Finz and Accent. Relay begins at 7 p.m. at Noyes Elementary School.

4. ART & ENTERTAINMENT: Adult improv show featuring Awesome Possum

Awesome Possum is a hilarious improv comedy troupe that performs all over the Massachusetts area and beyond. Show will be held at 7 p.m. at The Performing Arts Connection. Tickets are $5.

5. SPORTS & RECREATION: Boys volleyball

The Lincoln-Sudbury boys volleyball team plays host to Newton South. First serve is slated for 4 p.m. at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School.
