Five Things You Need to Know Today: Oct. 27

Some early Halloween fun is on the agenda for today.

1. FAMILY: Halloween pajama story time

Come on by Goodnow Library at 7 p.m. to hear family stories. Families with kids 3 years old and older are welcome. Bring them in their Halloween costumes or pajamas.

2. SPORTS & RECREATION: Field hockey

The Lincoln-Sudbury field hockey team prepares for the upcoming playoffs with a regular-season finale against host Weston. Opening faceoff is slated for 4 p.m. at Weston High School.

3. FAMILY: Halloween fun at Drumlin Farm

A frighteningly fun evening appropriate for the whole family, Drumlin Farm’s annual Tales of the Night event will be held on Oct. 27 and 28 from 6:30-9 p.m., with hayrides beginning at 7 p.m. The event’s centerpiece, the Haunted Hayride, pulls visitors along through a series of Halloween skits in Drumlin’s vegetable fields, lit by bonfires.

Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary is located at 208 South Great Road (Rte. 117) in Lincoln. To learn more about their programs, call 781-259-2200 or visit http://www.massaudubon.org/drumlinfarm.

4. SPORTS & RECREATION: Volleyball

The Lincoln-Sudbury girls volleyball team, which recently capture the Dual County League title, plays host to Weston. Opening serve is slated for 4 p.m. at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School.

5. ORGANIZATIONS: Sign up to play HOPEsudbury's Cow Patty Bingo

Cow Patty Bingo is coming to Sudbury in conjunction with the 2011 HOPEsudbury Telethon & Auction.

It’s easy to play. Just purchase a numbered BINGO block — $20 each at the Sudbury Farms courtesy booth – through Nov. 4 (or until the 300 blocks are sold out).

If our cow “HOPE” drops her first “patty” on your square as she mooooves across the gridded field, you can “pile” up the cash … up to $3,000! (Half the proceeds go to the winner, half benefits HOPEsudbury.)

So mosey on over to  the Sudbury Farms courtesy desk today to reserve a block or two and let the chips fall where they may.

Everyone’s invited to watch this “udderly” great event on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 1:30–3:30 p.m. on the Lincoln-Sudbury field as a part of the HOPEsudbury Telethon & Auction.
