Five Things You Need to Know Today: Sept. 29

Rosh Hashanah activities for the Jewish community.

1. RELIGIOUS: Rosh Hashanah services in the woods

Ma'yan Tikvah will again celebrate the “High Holidays in the Woods” with morning services on the first day of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur at the Nobscot Scout Reservation. All are welcome, including families with children.

The services will be led by Rabbi Katy Allen and will be informal, with a combination of traditional and nontraditional elements. Rosh Hashanah morning services will be held under the trees, or if the weather requires it, under a pavilion in the woods.

Participants will leave from the parking lot at 9:30, and the experience of the High Holidays will begin with the short hike to the site.

Suggested donation for non-members: $54 includes all High Holiday services for 2 people. No one is turned away. Registration is required. For more information, visit www.mayantikvah.org or contact Rabbi Katy Allen at rabbikza@verizon.net.
