Hat Trick By Sudbury Native Sparks Tri-City Storm to Victory
Michael Vecchione's overtime score the difference.
The goal was the third of the game for the 5-foot-10, 195-pound right winger.
In the first period, Vecchione took a pass from Bonner and netted a turn-around shot from the top of the crease past Waterloo goalie Cal Peterson, tying the game 1-1.
He struck again later in the period on the power play. Again taking a pass from Tim Bonner, he faked a shot and then fired a blast from the left circle using a screen from teammate Tim Lappin to beat Peterson for the second time in the period.
Vecchione is a free agent for the NHL.
