High Wind Warning Issued for Sudbury, Surrounding Areas

Now is the time to tie down outside furniture and other items.

It's time to batten down the hatches, Sudbury. The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning that will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the warning, the strongest winds can be expected in the Sudbury area between 8 p.m. and midnight. Winds of 25-35 mph are expected with gusts up to 55 mph are possible

The upgrade to a warning from the earlier advisory is because trees remain "fully leafed," which "will result in more damage than is normally associated with these wind speeds."

Additionally, a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 3 a.m.

The NWS is predicting the winds will result in some tree damage and scattered power outages.
