Holiday Happenings: Christmas Services in Sudbury and Nearby

A look at some of the area church services taking place on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. If your house of worship is holding a service and it isn't on our list, please add the details in the comments.

 

We've collected the details of several area Christmas services below. Generally, these are Christmas Eve services and will take place on Dec. 24 unless otherwise noted.

  • 7 p.m. -- Carol sing with the Sudbury Bell Ringers
  • 7:30 p.m. -- Christmas Eve worship service

Weston

Congregational Church of Weston

  • Dec. 23, 10:30 a.m. -- Christmas pageant
  • Dec. 24, 4 p.m. -- Moravian Love Feast
  • Dec. 24, 8 p.m. -- Lessons and carols

Weston United Methodist Church

  • 7:30 p.m. - Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

First Baptist Church of Weston (joint service at FBC with the Boston-West Korean Presbyterian Church)

  • 7:30 p.m. -- Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Wayland

Trinitarian Congregational Church

  • 5 p.m. -- Family Lessons and Carols Service. "Inspired by the traditional Christmas Eve lessons and carols service, our family oriented service proclaims the gospel story through readings, dramatic vignettes, musical offerings from children and adult choirs, wind trio, and congregational carols led by our worship team.  Children are invited to lead us in the service by offering their art, acting, reading or voices. If your child would like to be involved in the service contact music@tccwayland.org," according to the church website.
  • 7 p.m. -- Candlelight Communion Service. "Our contemplative communion service tells the Christmas story interspersed with organ-led Christmas carols and a Christmas message.  We celebrate communion together as we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ," the website reads.

Church of the Holy Spirit

Peace Lutheran Church

  • 9:30 a.m. -- Christmas Eve morning spoken service.
  • 7:30 p.m. -- Candlelight service

First Parish Unitarian-Universalist

  • 4 p.m. -- Annual Children's Tableau
  • 7 p.m. -- Traditional Christmas Eve service

Good Shepherd Parish (Christmas liturgy schedule)

Christmas Eve

  • 4 p.m. -- Saint Ann Church
  • 4:15 p.m. -- Saint Zepherin Church
  • 5:30 p.m. -- Saint Ann Church

Christmas Day (There will be only one Mass Dec. 25)

  • 10 a.m. -- Saint Zepherin Church

West Acton Baptist Church

Faith Evangelical Free Church

  • 6 p.m. -- Christmas Eve service

Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church

  • 3:30 p.m. -- Christmas Eve service for young families
  • 6:30 p.m. -- Christmas Eve candlelight service
  • 10 p.m. -- Christmas Eve communion service

Sudbury United Methodist Church offers a 4:00 p.m. Family Service on Christmas Eve with a pageant depicting the story of Jesus' birth. At 6:00 p.m. a traditional Moravian Lovefeast will include carols, cookies, and candles. Finally, at 8:00 p.m., a Service of Word and Table offers carols, Holy Communion, and a candlelit redition of Silent Night.

St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Sudbury (at One Morse Road, across from the Upper Featherland Baseball Field on Concord Road) offers the following services:

3:00pm Christmas Eve - Children's Christmas Pageant and Holy Eucharist
10:00pm Christmas Eve - Seasonal Choral & Instrumental Music
10:30pm Christmas Eve - Christmas Eve Service, including Holy Eucharist
10:00am Christmas Day - Christmas Day Service, including Holy Eucharist
