Holiday Weekends are in the Bag

Try these tip for great ideas on weekender bags.

The Fourth of July is here again and with this holiday usually comes family, friends and fabulous barbecues. Whether you’re traveling for just one night or the whole weekend, you’ll definitely need to find the right bag to work for you.

Depending on you’re destination (Martha’s Vineyard, Boston for the Pops or visiting friends as overnight guests) you’ll want to consider a few tips when choosing a weekender bag.

Top 5 things to consider

  1. Budget: A weekender bag can often be less expensive than other types of luggage because of the materials used. A great example of this would be a bag such as a colorful, In Stitches tote for $16.99 at Marshall’s or a High Sierra tote in a floral print on sale at Macy’s for $29.99.
  2. Size & Shape: A great bag will generally have space for 2 or 3 outfits. A Vera Bradley duffel bag for $80, located at the or the Vera Bradley store in the Natick Collection, has an ample amount of space and a huge array of designs to choose from. Note: Make sure with any bag use that you have enough room for additional gifts/purchases.
  3. Function: A rolling bag is always a good consideration if you’re looking to alleviate any possible shoulder or back pain. Try an Ann Klein Rolling City Bag on sale for $119.99 at Macy's. Khol’s also has a spacious Apt. 9 weekender tote normally $99.99 on sale for $49.99. Note: Make sure to check for inside and outside compartments for more organization, as well as zippers for more protection.
  4. Durability: If durability is your first priority then you may want to consider a bag made out of canvas since it’s easy to wipe off and clean. Another option would be a nylon, LeSportsac Weekender Bag for $108 at Macy‘s or if you‘re lucky, you may even find one on sale at Marshall‘s for $44.99.
  5. Style: If you’re looking for style on a budget, try a red, Bueno Patent Croc Print Weekender Duffle for $39.99 at Marshall’s. Or, try a Calypso Medallion Weekender Bag for $29.99 found at Target. For a more expensive option you could purchase a bold purple Samsonite Xspace Upright originally $380, on sale now for $190 at Lord N’ Taylor.

So, when you’re packing up this weekend for whatever exciting plans you may have, remember that weekender bags can be practical & stylish at the same time. No matter your plans, I hope you enjoy a safe, sunny and starry Fourth of July.
