The Junior Varsity squad also had a strong race grabbing 2nd place and was paced by freshman Ariel Keklak’s 7th place finish in a time of 17:27.  Anna Kelly (10th/17:27), Shannon Johnson (14th/17:43), Peri Segel (18th/17:48), Sara Mepham (25th/18:01), Mary Connors (26th/18:02) and Kate Lawson (38th/18:22) all contributed to the effort.

Earlier in the week, the varsity runners finished their regular season with a sparkling  8-0 record finishing 1st in the Dual County League for the 7th consecutive year.  The achievement is even more impressive considering the team lost its top two runners to graduation; Marika Crowe running for Vanderbilt University and Emily Knaul competing for RPI.  Coach Henry Phelan, who improved his overall record at LSRH to 39-1, was pleased with the girl’s performances.  “Each week the girls have shown continued improvement so winning the DCL was a nice accomplishment for the team. Our senior captains have shown great leadership all year; they deserve a lot of credit for motivating the younger runners to work hard and improve.”
