Updated: Late-Season Storm Forces SPS, L-S to Use Another Snow Day

Winter storm warning in effect until 8 p.m.

UPDATED: 11:15 A.M.

The winter that won't end is causing more headaches for parents and students in Sudbury as they are waking up to about 6 inches of snow from this latest storm on the last official day of winter.

According to WHDH, both Sudbury Public Schools and Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School announced they would have to use another snow day.

Last week SPS announced the last day of school would be June 24, so parents and students can expect to add a day to that. L-S said its last day would be June 21, meaning chances are June 24 will now be the last day before summer break.

WHDH meteorologist Jeremy Reiner said residents can expect the storm to exit late this afternoon.

"Thankfully, the storm is eager to leave so by evening (5pm) those pockets of snow, sleet & rain will shut down and only clouds will stick throughout the night," he said on his blog. "The storm is a fast mover so that means you'll hear some wind tonight — gusting from the west 15-25mph. Watch for areas of refreeze this evening & tonight."

Sudbury Park & Rec reports Atkinson Pool will open at 9 a.m. The Recreation Department will open at 11 a.m. All morning classes for pool and recreation have been cancelled.

Sudbury Town offices will delay opening until 11 a.m. This includes Flynn Building, Town Hall, Fairbank Community Center, Goodnow Library and non-essential offices at the Public Works department.

All programming at the Senior Center has been cancelled due to the storm. The Center is currently open and will close at 4 p.m.

Want some good news? Spring officially starts at 7:02 a.m., Wednesday.
