Residents report feeling the ground shake minutes ago.

What people are saying on Facebook about the earthquake:

-----

Statement from Gov. Deval Patrick on tonight's earthquake:

Many Massachusetts residents felt the effects of an earthquake tonight. According to MEMA, which is monitoring events and has briefed me, the quake was centered some 30 miles outside of Portland, Maine. So far, we have no reports of injury or damage in Massachusetts. MEMA will continue to monitor the situation closely. Residents should use caution if they encounter any damage and take a minute to check in on neighbors, family and friends.

The earthquake has been downgraded to a 4.0, according to the USGS: http://t.co/1Eopk7Ck.

ORIGINAL STORY

Sudbury resident Diane Johnson wrote to Sudbury Patch asking: "Was that an earthquake??? It just shook our houses big time!!!"

Resident Paula McKenzie called asking the same question.

Acton resident Kim Feinstein said she tried calling police department but their "lines are flooded. I couldn't get through."

Sudbury resident Thom Kenney said: " ... we felt the aftershocks here about 10 minutes later."

According to Malden Patch, small tremors were felt in the Greater Boston area after a 4.5 magnitude Earthquake near Lake Arrowhead, Maine.

Anymore shaking may come from Town Hall as Kablack and Haarde are sparring over Northwoods. O'Brien backing Haarde over surprise questioning.

This is EXACTLY what I am talking about. Is this unbiased reporting from the Editor or should I consider this a comment from a Framingham resident? If from Robert Fucci the Editor, which I assume to be the case due to the P next to the photo, it is inappropriate. If from Robert Fucci, resident of Framingham, I find it very entertaining.

Kirsten: I don't know the editor like you do (or so it sounds), but I was there to hear the sparring. There is nothing wrong with what he said; he told it like it was. Maybe you are upset over the issue, but to say it's biased is wrong. We definately had shaking at town hall!

Kirsten, respectfully, you have gone over the ledge. You made your point several times on Patch under several articles. It is time to take this issue offline.

My son and I were sitting at the kitchen table - he was doing homework and I was on my laptop when the house started shaking -- we felt it under our feet and "heard" the house 'moving' - i can't describe it any other way. My son and I looked at each other and said "was that an earthquake?" It was a really weird feeling! yowzer!

Central Street in Acton, MA : felt it very strongly! My son and I ran to each other, felt like the house was being "moved around" in all directions by strong forces! Never experienced something like it. Tweeted @actonpatch immediately :-)
