Scarves Add Flair to Any Outfit

There are many varieties to choose from to fit all tastes in fashion.

Do you want an easy way to look fresh and fashionable any day of the week?  I have the perfect solution no matter the occasion or season. Try a wonderful scarf.

Scarves are such an easy accessory to add flair to any outfit. With a wide variety of colors, shapes, and sizes, they’re the perfect finishing touch.

Whether you’re off to work in your black business suit, wearing jeans and a fun blouse, or even shorts and T-shirt, you can find a suitable scarf to express your individual style and personality.

One of the biggest reasons some women tend to stay away from scarves is not because they don’t like them. The real reason seems to be that they’re just not sure how to wear them. It can be overwhelming if you’ve never worn a scarf  before, but I thought I would make it a little easier for you by just sticking to my favorite three ways to wear one.  I personally like the casual swing, European loop, and the stylish knot (you'll find examples of these 3 styles above).

Some of the great scarf details you’ll see in stores are lace, sequins, prints, stripes, crinkled fashions, metallics, crochet, and plaids. They're found in fabrics such as pashmina, silk, cotton, wool, linen, and chiffon.

Here are some helpful tips to consider when adding a scarf to your outfit:

  • Only wear skinny scarves with more fitted tops and jackets.
  • You can wear a monochromatic look as long as you add a scarf with a different texture.
  • Choose a flattering color because the scarf should complement your complexion.
  • Don’t use the giant knotted scarves especially if you’re petite. It just adds volume.
  • If you’re looking for a more sophisticated look, try using a beautiful scarf as the main focus for your outfit. Example, wearing a cream, elegant scarf with an all black outfit.
  • Don’t just throw on a scarf to “add something.”  Think it through or it will look like an afterthought.
  • Evening wear looks best with a pashmina shawl or larger wrap. You can keep it in place with a decorative brooch.
  • Don’t over accessorize with a scarf.  Try not to wear a large brimmed hat and big scarf. They tend to compete with each other.
  • If you’re working with multi-colored scarves, keep your outfit colors simple.

Not only are scarves stylish, but they’re also functional. Have you ever seen a woman wear a silk scarf in her hair or even tie a longer one on as a belt with some cute khaki pants?  Scarves can be “thrown” on in a very casual way or used for a more polished look.

No matter what you choose to wear with a scarf, it can always bring excitement to an outfit by adding color or texture. What a great way to take an outfit from simple to sassy. So next time you’re trying to add something extra to an outfit, take a look at your scarves and see what they can do for you.
