Shaw's Employee Admits to Shoplifting

The following arrest information was supplied by the Sudbury Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

 

The Sudbury Police Department was called to Shaw's supermarket Thursday night after receiving a report of a possible shoplifter.

According to Lt. Robert Grady, when officers arrived on the scene, the person suspected of shoplifting broke down and admitted to the crime.

Celio Fonseca, 57, who lives on Main Street in Hudson, was charged with shoplifting by concealing merchandise. Grady said the merchandise was food.

Fonseca was released at 10:08 p.m. and was scheduled to be arraigned at Framingham District Court on Friday.

In other police news from Thursday:

  • Officers responded to a Montague Street residence after receiving a report of threats being made between a landlord and a potential tenant.
  • A resident of Wright Road called police to say he witnessed someone placing a letter in his door and yelling another occupant in the house was an idiot. When officers arrived at the residence, no one answered the door.
  • Officers from Sudbury and Wayland searched the Griscom Road neighborhood after reports of cannon fire was heard. Officers could not determine where the sound came from.
