Sudbury Figure Skater Captures Bronze Medal in Pairs in Japan

Marissa Castelli, of Cranston, and Simon Shnapir, of Sudbury, Mass., represent the Skating Club of Boston.

Sudbury's Simon Shnapir is bringing home the bronze medal after he and partner Marissa Castelli took third recently at the NHK Trophy in Japan.

Castelli and Shnapir scored 174.51 points to earn their first Grand Prix Series medal. The pair's tango-inspired free skate received a career high score of 112.66. Their short program also earned a career best score of 61.85 points, U.S. Figure Skating said.

Russian figure skaters Vera Bazarova and Yuri Larionov won the pairs event to secure a place at next month's Grand Prix final.
