Sudbury Public Schools Tabs Whitsons With Food Service Contract
Negotiations still pending.
(EDITOR'S NOTE: The following was submitted by Sudbury Public Schools.)
SPS Business and Finance Director Mary Will updated the School Committee on the search for a Food Service Management provider. The Sudbury Food Service Proposal Evaluation Committee was assembled to review the responses to a Request For Proposal (RFP) for food management services for the 2012 - 2013 school year and charged with making a recommendation based on their review of these proposals. The Committee consisted of the following members: Ellen Joachim (School Committee member); Julie Sebell (SPS Parent); Rita Skog (SPS Manager of Food Services and Transportation); Mary Will.
RFP responses were received from three companies: Aramark, Chartwells, and Whitsons. Following a thorough review of the responses and presentations by all three companies, the Committee unanimously recommended awarding to Whitsons a rating of "Highly Advantageous." Whitsons' financial offer also exceeded the minimum financial criteria of a no-cost guarantee to SPS.
Based on the Evaluation Committee's work, the School Committee voted to conditionally award the Food Service Management Company Contract to Whitsons pending successful completion of contract negotiations.
The School Committee wishes to extend its thanks and gratitude to the members of the Evaluation Committee for their efforts in assessing the food service management candidates and preparing a recommendation for approval.
