TELL US: What Should Scott Brown Do Next?
U.S. Senator Scott Brown will leave office in January. What should he do next?
U.S. Sen. Scott Brown, a Republican, was defeated Tuesday by first time candidate Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat.
Warren will take office as the state's junior senator in January.
She'll replace Brown, who was elected in a special election in January 2010 when he defeated Democrat Martha Coakley.
In his concession speech on Tuesday night, Brown told his supporters that "defeat is only temporary."
As soon as the race was called, analysts began suggesting Brown may run for Massachusetts governor in 2014 or would seek the state's other U.S. Senate seat if Senator John Kerry is named Secretary of State under President Barack Obama in his second term.
What should Brown do next? Tell us in the comments.

Wait for Hillary to step down, Kerry to step up, and then fill the vacancy with another special election?

Kerry will almost certainly be promoted to Hillary's job, .I agree, Scott should run for Governor.. If he ran for Kerry's job, he'd just have to run again in 2 yrs. That's exhausting. Let him rest up and run for Governor. We need someone even handed and fair-minded and honest like Scott in charge.
I can think of a great choice for the Senate: RICHARD TISEI. He was robbed --- there were voting irregularities in Lynn (People being told to vote Tierney or lose their welfare, etc..) among other things. He would have had to run again in 2 yrs anyway. All congressmen do.

Move to someplace like Alabama or Mississippi where he won't have to try to hide the fact that he is a republican.

I also think he could clerk for Scalia but he might be closer in intellect to Justice Thomas.

Campaign on behalf of mainstream republicans trying to defeat tea partiers around the country in 2014 elections? He could potentially help the party from wandering further into far right tinfoil hat land.

Take a job on Wall Street. One of the big banks would pay him millions. Public service is not worth it. He is a good man of real qualiry who had his character assassinated. The MA people don't deserve him. Time to selfishly go for the money.

Spend more time as a naked pickup truck man.
Alternately, I'm sure some lobbying outfit will immediately snatch him up. And it's funny that you complain of 'character assassination' after the way he bullied Senator-Elect Warren over her Cherokee heritage.
Get used to hearing that: Senator Warren. She could be around for a while.

Mr. Brown should resume his modelling career. He's just another pretty face, not a great thinker or speaker. He's certainly not one who will ever introduce any great legislation or introduce innovative ideas. He's more of a follower than leader. Let's just let him drive off in his pickup.
Still have to go to work

This is tiresome. Warren made up every facet of her career for her "Native American" heritage and "first breast feeding mom to take the bar exam". Evrything she has said has been disproved and she has offered nothing in defense of hearsay ion her part. If she is so brilliant why doesn't she come clean - maybe she can't!

If Scott Brown is serious about being an independent voice, he sould run for the Senate seat that will be vacaedt by John Kerry (if he is appointed to Secretary of State) as an Independent. That way he will not be beholden to the Grover Norquist nonsense, and instead would hopefully be responsive to the true needs and direcftion of the people of Massachusetts. I am a die-hard Elizabeth Warren fan, but Scottt Brown is well liked in this state and I actually did like him personally. He should be given another chance to run for Senate. However, if someone like Nicki Tsongas runs for the Senate seat too, he would probably not win it.

Mr. Brown needs to help lead the party in a tack towards libertarianism, or the center, for those who have confused religious fundamentalism for conservative fundamentals.

Run for Governor, Scott. You're a good man who can reach across the aisle, a value that this country is going to need now that the rude "to h*ll with you" rhetoric has started to come out full force from the left (see comments above).

He said "defeat is only temporary", so I bet he'll make another try for US Senate, either in a special election bid if Kerry becomes Secretary of State, or in a rematch against Warren in 2018. On the latter, I'd love to see him duke it out for the GOP nomination against Wllard M. Romney!!!

“Politicians and diapers must be changed often, and for the same reason.” ― Mark Twain. Power corrupts; as humans try to hold it, they become more corrupt. This is uncontestable fact, proven throughout history. After one term, Brown and all politicians must be leave Washington and work in the economy that they were elected to protect.
Banks, corporations and the wealthiest 1/10th of 1% own Washington; this heinously corrupt Plutocracy has funded the creation of laws favoring themselves and the ever increasing salaries, benefits and perks and a lifetime welfare program for politicians and their friends and families; when they serve only one term, they collect all their salary, benefits and perks for their entire life. Taxpayer money is embezzled to gift their children into advantage and Ivy League.
Universities have increased tuition beyond even gigantic healthcare costs. They and Media are part of the corrupt system that augments and reinforces the delusional misperceptions and self-importance of the courts, military industrial complex and Washington.
Lobbying must be made illegal with unavoidable general population prison time for the lobbyist and every member of the board of the sponsor. It’s a parasitic, unethically compensated and gifted career; it prostitutes itself to the highest bidders, and is nothing more than a black market buying politicians and favor and manipulating them into choices that facilitate the rape, terrorism and forced feudalism of the 99%.

I'll gladly ride this train. You rock. Can we add campaign reform to the list? How's this: Limit campaigns to about six weeks, grant each candidate one hour of TV time per week to talk policy to the voters, eliminate all paid political adverstising; eliminate all third-party donations to political campaigns. It's a start.
