N.H. Man Sentenced in Killing of Lincoln-Sudbury Graduate

Despite an outpouring of support the judge called “stunning,” family members of Donald St. Laurent, a Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School graduate who was killed by his best friend, couldn't keep Christopher Bazar out of a New Hampshire state prison.

According to the Nashua Telegraph, Bazar, 27, was sentenced Wednesday to serve four to 10 years for the Dec. 2, 2011, shooting death of St. Laurent in Hudson. Bazar pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a killing described as drunken horseplay and a senseless tragedy.

At approximately 7:35 p.m. on Dec. 2, members of the Hudson Police Department responded to 72 Windham Road in Hudson in response to a 911 call. When police arrived, they discovered St. Laurent, lying dead in the home from a gunshot wound.

He was renting a house with his mother at the time.

Bazar admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana at the time of the shooting.

Bazar tearfully addressed the St. Laurent family while accepting responsibility for the death of St. Laurent.

“I can’t make it right. I can’t fix it,” Bazar said.

“I love you, guys,” Bazar said to St. Laurent’s parents, brother and sister, who sat two rows behind him in the Hillsborough County Superior Court courtroom No. 3. “I’m so sorry.”

St. Laurent was a native of Reading.
