Robert - I was at the TM last night and I don't recall ANY "sparring". I think your headline is inaccurate and intentionally antagonistic. There was vigorous debate at times, and also a fairly unruly and at times rude hall - including our Moderator.
I also believe most if not all of Mr. O'Brien's comments were made as Chairman of the BOS, reflecting it's collective activity, not his own. If anything, the 'sparring' was between Messrs. Kablack and Kaplan regarding the reasons to oppose the article. Mr. Obrien's comments on the amendment were driven by legislative protocol and due process, an opinion to which he is more than entitled after almost 20 of elected service to the Town..
I hope the article moves forward, but all last night did was creat the need to bring this before a Town wide election and then consideration before the AG and State legislature. So we're not out of the woods yet.

O'brien's comments were made as an individual and not in official capacity. I learned today that the moderator advised they should speak from the floor as residents, rather than in their official capacity which would have been implied if their comments were presented from the stage.
