With 13 of 14 precincts reporting, incumbent representative Tom Conroy (D-Wayland) had secured 89 percent of the vote on his way to a Democratic ticket primary win over challenger Steven Hakar (D-Framingham), Boston.com is reporting.

Hakar had garnered 227 votes (11 percent) to Conroy's 1,860, according to numbers reported on Boston.com.

Wayland's Conroy is seeking his fourth term as the 13th Middlesex District representative, while Hakar is a first-time candidate for a state position. In all, Boston.com reports, 2,087 votes were cast across 13 of 14 precincts in the district.

"I want to thank everybody who supported me today and over the course of the past six years," Conroy said. Given that there isn't a major party opponent running against Conroy in November, he said he hopes to now have a bit more time to focus on some of the other "very important races" like that of U.S. Senate hopeful Elizabeth Warren and President Barack Obama.

The redrawn 13th District includes Sudbury; most of Wayland; the Saxonville neighborhood of Framingham; and four precincts of Marlborough.

There is no Republican challenger for the seat, though Hakar said he has not yet decided whether to run as an independent on the Nov. 6 ballot.

"It was a great experience," Hakar said. "I was able to meet a lot of people. I was able to bring out a lot of issues. I want to congratulate my opponent, Tom Conroy, for having a dignified campaign. I want to thank the people who have supported me. The issues remain alive and I intend to see it carried out long term.”
