Weekend (And Vacation Week) Happenings: Museums, Libraries and More
This weekend opens February Vacation Week.
On Wednesday, we offered a couple of suggestions for the upcoming February Vacation Week given that ski plans have perhaps been disrupted by the absence of winter. Those suggestions were primarily home-centric -- as in, things you can do to stay entertained without leaving the house.
This article is about getting out and taking advantage of some of the special events and programs taking place in honor of February Vacation Week.
Happy Birthday Presidents! Family Day
When/Where: Friday, Feb. 24 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Spellman Museum of Stamps and Postal History, 235 Wellesley St, Weston.
Why Go: Presidents Day is actually just a celebration of Washington's Birthday. But there are 200 years of presidents in U.S. history -- why limit yourself to celebrating the birthday of just one. The annual birthday event at Spellman will provide the opportunity for visitors to view stamps honoring all the presidents, eat some presidential birthday cake and otherwise enjoy the party.
Price: Adults, $8; seniors and students, $5; children under 16 and members, free.
Vacation Week Ice Skating
When/Where: Tuesday, Feb. 21 and Thursday, Feb. 23; general skating will take place from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. and stick time from 11 a.m. to noon at The Rivers School.
Why Go: It's pretty consistently been above freezing all winter, so those outdoor winter sports aren't really happening. Take advantage of icy sports wherever you can.
Price: $5/person; $20 maximum per family. Helmets are required.
When/Where: Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Russell's Garden Center, 397 Boston Post Rd, Wayland.
Why Go: Bunnies and lambs! It's second of two Farm Fiber Days scheduled for this year's Winter Farmers' Market. Come by for typical farmers' market fare in addition to products made from farm fibers of all kinds. And, as we mentioned, there will be bunnies and lambs.

Roberts Weslyan College Chorale Concert
When/Where: Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Sudbury United Methodist Church, 251 Old Sudbury Rd, Sudbury.
Why Go: This chorale is in the midst of a February tour through New England and New York. Each year, the group performs with the Rochester Philharmonic in the famed Kodak Hall and sings to full houses at the Cultural Life Center on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan. This is a not-to-be-missed concert featuring classic choral pieces through modern numbers.

A Press Conference with President Abraham Lincoln
When/Where: Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m. at Acton Memorial Library, 486 Main St, Acton.
