I walk. I walk a lot - my goal for the past 20 years has been 4 miles a day and I usually get in an average of 3-plus every other day.
Walking can become boring and less effective if you get into a too rigid routine. I seek new places to walk and always try to add a little extra movement to get the most value from each day's walk.
On July 11, I drove down to Revere Beach. It's a favorite place of mine when the weather is right and always rewards me with great people watching.
On this day, preparations were underway for the ninth annual Revere Beach National Sand Sculpting Festival which runs from July 12-July 15. I always carry my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 and was rewarded with some nice photos of the artisans at work on the incredible art that mark this event.
Revere Beach offers an unrestricted 2-mile paved walk along the beachfront and great packed-sand beach for strolling along the surf. There are restrooms there opened during the season and Kelly's Restaurant if you are in the mood for their famous roast beef and clam features. If there is a drawback, it might be the drive down Route 16 to get there. It's not for the squeamish.
