Sadly I think our superintendent is going to make another poor choice by hiring someone who isRead Moretowar ds the end of her career and quite frankly will not be much better than the previous principal. The fact that she "included" other people on the interview committee was just a way to make us feel like part of the process, but the reality is she is doing what she wants. I hope Christine and Scott can ensure that this school committee DOES NOT renew her contract!

Thanks, JON999 that makes total sense to me and I (honestly) can't believe that never crossed myRead Moremin d when thinking about it. Thanks!

Christina, Thank you very much for asking. I am happy to respond. The answer lies with ourRead Moretown leaders. Just look at Selectman Simon. He wrote a blog attacking a citizen for proposing a Greenway, which is a rail trail we could build right now and could be paved over at any time in the future. That is something that you would think Lenny would support but instead he attacked a citizen for raising the idea. Lenny and Dick Williamson have also attacked people using the Bruce Freeman Mailing list, which is illegal by the way since they are supposed to be an apolitical nonprofit. Lisa Gutch and Michele McDonald have attacked people with nasty emails using the school email addresses. Maureen Valente has kicked people off committees, lobbied the moderator to kick people off fincom and rumor has it she will even get involved in property tax assessments for people on her *hit list. So, I have a better question to ask: Why would someone post under their own name in this town? The town leaders will attack people with opposing viewpoints instead of listening to people with opposing viewpoints. One woman who posts here regularly has even called the companies of people who have disagreed with "the town" and tried to get them in trouble at work. Can you friggin believe that? Do you like being attacked for what you think? So the answer to your question is: Maureen Valente, the Board of Selectmen, Kirstin Roopenian, Lisa Gutch, Michelle McDonald and others who have pushed political discussions in this town underground for fear of reprisal.

Hello Christina, The answer is one word "retribution". The Sudbury political machine is Read Morean ugly beast and will stop at nothing to destroy people they don't agree with.

Any updates on these hires Matt?

I just heard back from the superintendent today regarding my questions on the topic, but no updateRead Morew as provided. I'll keep checking in with them from time to time in hopes of getting news on the subject.

why do we have an unfunded $80 million OPEB liability (which he is largely unaware of)? pleaseRead Morevote for Pat Brown.

JON99, Drobinski said at candidates night it was only $13 million. He must have misremembered. Read MoreHe was never good with numbers.
JON999 March 31, 2014 at 12:09 PM
$80 million is about the size of the yearly town budget. that's pretty big. which means the newer Read Moreresidents are paying for debts incurred by prior residents. which means less money for schools, parks, police/fire, ROOFS!, etc. inter-generational debt transfer is immoral. and we're still adding to the OPEB liability, going further underwater every year. save a few hundred thousand dollars at L-S with solar panels in the parking lot feels good (sort of) but is immaterial in the big picture... vote for Pat Brown.

with enrollment dropping significantly, why are budgets continuing to go up both in SPS and LS? The Read Morebudget should be decreasing by millions per year. Why are there two separate huge bureaucracies, one for SPS and one for LS, with two supers, asst supers, asst asst supers, etc., etc. So the schools lack funding? Right. There are hundreds of fewer students now compared with a few years ago. One elementary school should be shut down. There will be hundreds fewer in coming years. Where are the millions in cost savings?

One more thought, while I admire your right, and the right of any supporter to defend theirRead Morecandidat e, it is pretty telling that Ellen and Rich don't ever personally explain their actions from that time. They can't possibly be so tuned out to not realize what a major point of disappointment this was to their constituents. I am extremely convinced that Christine Hogan has the character and courage to fight for every parent's right to speak, even those with a differing point of view. We are so overdue for more of this type of leadership in town.

Allowing Anne to spend money on furniture and decorating is NOT controlling the budget! AllowingRead MoreAnn e to spend thousands on legal bills is NOT controlling the budget. It is in fact taking money from the budget that is ear marked for OUR children! Ellen voted Twice to extend Anne' s contract AND give her a raise! She has also allowed Anne to spend money on MORE administrator 's and mediators! I am sure Ellen is a nice person. However from where I stand she looks like a puppet, doing and saying what she is told!
