I attended Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School from 2001 to 2005.  In the spirit of the back-to-school season, I decided to return to L-S, these five years later.  I walked in the heavy metallic doors Thursday, the second day of school, to see what L-S has become compared to when I was a student.   At first, I am wary, almost uncomfortable walking around with my camera and 23-year-old tattooed, older self.  I glance around corners, trying not to be seen.  My prayers are answered when I realize I have come during class time.  Only maintenance workers will be roaming the halls at this hour.  I…
I had not been to the Goodnow Library for years.  The last time I went there I was probably renting VHS tapes and Calvin and Hobbes comics.  Tonight, I was going for a special event; The Fred Astaire Film Series.  The Goodnow LIbrary in Sudbury is putting on a four week film series every tuesday night at 7pm, featuring the musical films of Fred Astaire.  I had never seen a Fred Astaire film, but I had heard they were full of dancing, singing, outlandish costumes, and who can say no to that?  The film I was seeing tonight was Ziegfeld Follies, a 1946 Technicolor film featuring Judy Garland, …
It is 7:45 in the morning on a blazing-hot Monday.  Kids have their water bottles, required hats, and backpacks packed with towels and lunches.  Counselors have their water bottles, lesson plans, and secret water balloons to refresh unsuspecting campers throughout the day.  "I said a BOOM-CHICK-A-BOOM!" The first camp song begins with a thunderous roar.  Faces light up immediately.  Some suddenly jump up on their feet, ready to join in on the sing-a-long.  Again, the counselor screams, "I SAID A BOOM-CHICK-A-BOOM!" More kids are on their feet, smiling, ready to answer the next line, the words…
