Auditions for Encore: An Adult Glee Club
Audition Date: Sunday, January 13 at 6:00pm. No appointment necessary.
Prepare: 32 bars of a song in the style of musical theater, pop, or rock that showcases your voice and personality. Bring sheet music in the key you wish to sing in (accompanist provided) or sing a cappella. Be prepared to learn additional music and a dance routine.
Seeking: "Encore" Seasons 3 will perform songs and dances to hits from today and yesterday including Broadway favorites. From Lady Gaga to the Jackson Five to Wicked, there is a little bit of everything in our set! We are looking for energetic and collaborative men and women who enjoy singing, dancing/movement and performing. Group members should have a good sense of pitch, natural rhythm, and stage presence. No experience is necessary, however a willingness to develop your inner talent and have fun is a must! NOTE: Singers who dance and dancers who sing are sought as well. You will be able to indicate on your audition form what you feel your strengths are and how, if cast, you'd prefer to be showcased in the group.
Schedule: Tuesdays 7:30-10:30pm beginning January 15-April 29 with an additional rehearsal Thursday, May 2 from 8:00-10:00pm. No rehearsals February 19, March 5 or April 16. Performances May 3, 4, and 5 at The Performing Arts Connection.
About the Group: Now in its third season, "Encore" aims to develop your voice, dance, and performance skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Class work will focus on vocal and dance technique, stage presence, and preparation for the performance. Learn valuable skills in ensemble and solo singing, study a variety of musical genres (including contemporary, rock and pop), and develop your natural rhythm on stage!
Additional Performances: The ultimate goal is to form a third season ensemble who will continue to perform after the studio concerts in May. Possible venues may include local community events, fundraisers, etc. While the initial commitment is only expected through May 5, we encourage all candidates to be open to potential for further opportunities.
