Dear Friends,
As the season of giving thanks approaches, we find ourselves wanting to help our neighbors to the north who are still recovering from the recent flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irene. As some of you may know, Rob Taylor and his family live in Vermont during the school year. Thankfully, they were not affected by the flooding, but they have seen first hand its devastating effect on hundreds of families and businesses.
We invite you and your family to join us in reaching out to some of these families by helping to supply them with Thanksgiving dinner.
We have been in communication with Upper Valley Haven in White River Junction, VT. For more than 30 years, this organization has provided temporary shelter and educational programming for homeless families, including after-school programs for children and teens, as well as food and clothing to anyone in need. They have been instrumental in assisting the families in the area most affected by the recent flooding. (Learn more about the organization at uppervalleyhaven.org.)
They will be supplying Thanksgiving packages, including a turkey, to many families in need for the upcoming holiday and could definitely use our help. If you would like to participate, we will be collecting the following non-perishable goods at the camp office during the week of November 7th - 11th from 9:00am - 5:00pm.
- Stuffing
- Gravy
- Cranberry Sauce
- Pie Filling
- Pie Crust
- Canned Sweet Potatoes or Yams
- Instant Potatoes
Wishing you and your family a happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving celebration!
