League of Women Voters to Host State Senate Primary Candidates
CONCORD-All seven primary candidates for the 3rd Middlesex District State Senate seat have been invited to a League of Women of Voters Candidates’ Night on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center, 1276 Main Street, West Concord.


Candidates’ Night is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Parking behind the Center may be accessed from Church Street.


The five Democratic primary candidates in the race are Michael J. Barrett, Alexander E. Buck, Mara Marie Dolan, Joe Kearns Goodwin and Joseph W. Mullin. The Republican primary candidates are Gregory P. Howes and Sandi Martinez. Senator Susan Fargo, who currently represents the 3rd Middlesex District, has announced her retirement.


Following opening statements, the candidates will answer questions from the LWV and from audience members. Former LWV of Massachusetts President Nancy Carapezza of Wayland will moderate. After the forum, audience members may talk with the candidates informally.


Voters from the 3rd Middlesex District may propose questions before August 15 by emailing VoterService@lwvcc.org. Please include your street address and city or town. The district is comprised of Bedford, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, Lexington (precincts 3, 8, 9), Lincoln, Sudbury (precincts 1, 4), Waltham and Weston.


The State Primary Election will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2012. The last day to register to vote in the primary or change party enrollment is Friday, August 17.
