Congregation Beth El of Sudbury is pleased to host Shir Appeal, Tufts University’s co-ed Jewish a capella group on March 1 as part of the 2013 Boston Jewish Music Festival’s “Songs of Shabbat Across the Region” program. The performance of Jewish and Israeli music will begin at 8:00 pm. Prior to the concert, Shabbat Services will begin at 6:00 followed by a pot luck dinner. All are welcome, and there is no charge. An Oneg Shabbat (refreshments) will be served following the performance.

The award-winning Shir Appeal, Tufts’ only co-ed Jewish a capella group, will perform a broad repertoire of live music, including Israeli pop and rock, traditional, liturgical, and English songs with Jewish themes. Founded in 1995, Shir Appeal most recently appeared on Best of Jewish A Cappella Volume 3 (December 2012). They are the first non-secular and only Jewish a capella group to earn spots on the nationally acclaimed Best of Collegiate A Cappella, and have garnered awards and nominations by the Contemporary A Capella Society. Shir Appeal tours nationally each January and has just released a brand new album, “The Elephant in the Room.”

The group is back by popular demand after their outstanding performances in previous years at Beth El. Shir Appeal combines their love of music and performance with their appreciation for Jewish culture, singing in both English and Hebrew as they entertain their audiences.
