Concord Democrat Mara Dolan, a candidate for the opening 3rd Middlesex State Senate seat, announced endorsements from state Rep. Tom Conroy and U.S. Rep. Mike Capuano.
In the race for the open 3rd Middlesex State Senate seat, Concord Democrat Mara Dolan is getting a little help from her friends. One of three Concordian candidates for the seat, opening upon the retirement of Susan Fargo, D-Lincoln, Dolan this week picked up endorsements from two lawmakers from the region. The first, announced last Monday, came from State Rep. Tom Conroy, D-Wayland. In a press release, Conroy calls Dolan a friend and said he hopes to serve together with her in the legislature. "We need more elected officials in Massachusetts like Mara Dolan,” Conroy said in a statement. "She is committed to good government, and has a sense of the right priorities — Democratic priorities — including job creation, affordable and high …

Resident Dan De Pompei says Article 4 of this year's Warrant is an example of how the town is run.
On April 15 we all received copies of the Warrant for Town Meeting (TM) 2012. The distribution of the Warrant prior to TM is required by statute so the taxpayers can be informed on the status of the Town prior to the taxpayers carrying out their legislative responsibilities at TM. Article 4 of this year’s Warrant, The FY 13 Budget, is really the major purpose of the Warrant and TM. Article 4 sets the Cost Center expenditures and thereby sets the tax levy to fund the Town Cost Center operating budgets for the next fiscal year. The budget numbers in Article 4 and the integrity behind these numbers is a validation of how the Town is run. This year, when TM moved on Article 4, the Finance Committee (FINCOM) amended Article 4 and advised …

Joe Kearns Goodwin is running for the Democratic nomination for the 3rd Middlesex State Senate Seat. State Rep. Cory Atkins endorsed Goodwin at the May 12 campaign kick-off event.
Nearly 100 supporters stood in front of Joe Kearns Goodwin as he took the microphone following the endorsement of State Rep. Cory Atkins, D-Concord, to deliver remarks at the Saturday afternoon event. Their reasons to support the Concord Democrat ranged from long-term familiarity with the candidate to support for the platform he detailed in the speech. "One of the most amazing and gratifying things was that I knew about half the people in the crowd," Goodwin told Patch. "I feel immensely proud that the people who know me are here but we need to keep working to get more people engaged." Goodwin, 34, is running in a crowded race for the seat being vacated by Sen. Susan Fargo, D-Lincoln. The Democratic race includes Lexington resident Mike …

At an ice cream social to officially kick off Joe Kearns Goodwin's campaign for state senate in the 3rd Middlesex District, state Rep. Cory Atkins, D-Concord, will endorse Goodwin as her pick to replace retiring state Sen. Susan Fargo.
Joe Kearns Goodwin, a Democratic candidate for State Senate in the 3rd Middlesex District, is holding an official campaign kickoff/ice cream social today at the home of state Rep. Cory Atkins, D-Concord. In addition to hosting the outdoor affair, Atkins is endorsing Goodwin for the seat long held by retiring state Sen. Susan Fargo, D-Lincoln. Atkins has known Goodwin for years. He grew up with her son, Dean, and took a semester off from his undergraduate studies at Harvard to run Atkins’ first successful campaign for state representative in 1999. “That’s only a small piece of it,” said Atkins, who is serving as Goodwin’s campaign chair in his first bid for elected office. “I’d be attracted to Joe anyway, as would a lot of people. He’s a …

Two weeks ago, the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed a FY13 budget proposal that returns to cities and towns much of the increased state revenues that have been generated by a stronger state economy. Later this month, the State Senate will pass its version of the budget, and the after the two legislative versions are reconciled in June, a final budget will be sent to the Governor for his signature, likely before the start of the FY13 on July 1. Each year, my top priority has been to increase local aid to the communities that I am proud to represent, and this year my colleagues and I in the House proposed to increase local aid funding in several ways to help lessen the burden of the recession on municipalities: We also level-…

MassDOT says switch to E-ZPass name eliminates confusion for drivers, improves safety for all.
(EDITOR'S NOTE: The following written by Framingham Patch staff reporters.) The Massachusetts Department of Transportation begins an overhaul this week of all signage at toll plazas on the Turnpike, Tobin Bridge and airport tunnels to improve safety and meet federal highway guidelines. Drivers will see the Fast Lane signs come down and E-ZPass signs go up; "Cash Only" signs will also be updated as part of the project. “Driver hesitation and confusion can jeopardize safety at our toll plazas,” said MassDOT Secretary and CEO Richard A. Davey in a press release. “We want the general public and our 1.7 million transponder holders to know that E-ZPass and Fast Lane are now one in the same.” Purple and white E-ZPass signs will be familiar to …

As a Sudbury native and farmer/owner of Siena Farms, a 50-acre vegetable farm here in North Sudbury, I am writing to passionately encourage every voting town resident to come to Town Meeting next week to raise their hand in support of the permanent preservation of Pantry Brook Farm (Article 30). Preserving farmland preserves – and creates – farming. Indeed, there would be no Siena Farms if not for the devoted work of the Sudbury community over the last half-century in preserving some of its most productive farmland, as the majority of our annual cropping occurs on protected farmland here in Sudbury. As a result, we are able to grow fresh organic food to serve a 500-member CSA community, as well as area farmers’ markets and restaurants, …

I agree Siobhan. The problem is that Mr Fucci seems to condone "opinion based" attacks such as Carol's and yet will not allow people to state facts that effect WE the voters, citizens and taxpayers of Sudbury. I have recently made posts in regard to one of our elected lawmakers and they have been denied. My posts are based on public records which can be found at any courthouse or website of the …   more ›
