3 Sudbury Students Performing with Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra

Here are 5 things to know today in Sudbury.

1. Over one hundred young musicians from the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras’ (BYSO) premier orchestra, Boston Youth Symphony (BYS) will bring to life one of the most popular operas ever written - Puccini’s Tosca, a 
melodrama in three acts.

Among those are three students from Sudbury:
  • Gregory Derecho, violin, 16
  • Lillian Vellom, double bass, 18
  • Eugenia Zhang, violin, 12.
This one time only opera performance takes place on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 3 p.m. at Sanders Theatre at Harvard University at 45 Quincy St., Cambridge. Tickets 
start at only $30 and discounted student and senior tickets are available; call Sanders Theatre Box Office at 617-496-2222.

2. Morgan Smith of Sudbury was recently named to the High Honor Roll for the fall term at Pomfret School.

A student earns Honors with a 3.0 average and no grade below a "B-.

Morgan, a member of the class of 2017, earned the distinction of High Honors with a 3.5 average and no grade below a B-.

3. Shane Sefton of Sudbury was recently named to the Honor Roll for the fall term at Pomfret School.

A student earns Honors with a 3.0 average and no grade below a B-.

Shane is a member of the class of 2014.
