Sudbury Plans to Pressure NSTAR to Replant Trees

Here are 5 things to know today in Sudbury.

1. The Sudbury Board of Selectmen on Sept. 17 authorized Town Manager Maureen Valente communicate with NSTAR the town wants the planting of red cedars to replace the vegetation the utility company cut down last year in the Shawdow Oak Drive neighborhood. Valente has been authorized to communicate with NSTAR that the Board voted in favor of a suggestion to properly clear stumps and evasive plants for best chance of survival for the cedars. The Board said Valente can use an assertive tone in the letter to NSTAR.

2. The Sudbury Senior Center and Parmenter Community Health are co-sponsoring a workshop on Falls Prevention on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 3:00- 5:00 PM at the Sudbury Senior Center.  Come try a mini Tai Chi class!  Find out what physical therapists recommend to prevent falls and how a nurse helps people to understand the risks of certain medications.  Then listen as one of Sudbury’s own Emergency Medical Technician’s (EMT) tells what happens if you need to call 911.  Afterwards stay a few minutes more and try a Better Bones strength and balance mini-class.  Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, sandwiches and light desserts throughout the afternoon!  You must register for this free event, please call the Sudbury Senior Center at (978) 443-3055.

4.  Lincoln-Sudbury is holding its Back to School Night on Sept. 25.

Parents/guardians can pick up their student’s schedule in their student’s mailbox in the House Office when you arrive at the school.
