CITIZEN-SOLDIERS OF SUDBURY, 1775 - WHO THEY WERE AND THE WAYS THEY WENT

Sunday, June 8th at 2:00 p.m. at the Sudbury Town Hall, 322 Concord Road. The program will be presented by two members of the current Sudbury Company of Minute and Militia, Dan Meenan and George Quintal. They will discuss Sudbury’s participation on the first day of the War for American Independence as well as details of the route to Concord.
Who were the over 250 Sudbury Citizen-Soldiers who left their homes in the early hours of April 19, 1775 to answer the call to arms and march to Concord? What was the route like and what happened when they got to Concord? Meenan and Quintal will capture that historic day with a creative approach and explanation of what really happened. For over 50 years the Sudbury Company of Minute and Militia have faithfully recreated the march to Concord ONLY on April 19th.
The public is welcome to attend, step back in time, and find out about one of the largest contingents that marched on April 19, 1775. Companies of Militia, Minute and Horse from both sides of the Sudbury River, now Wayland and Sudbury, joined the battle through Concord and Lexington, as the British Regulars Retreated from Barrett’s Farm and the North Bridge to Charlestown.
