MetroWest Jewish Day School Receives Robotics Grant

Framingham, MA - January 24, 2014 –

MetroWest Jewish Day School (MWJDS) has been selected to receive a grant from The Gelfand Family Charitable Trust (GFCT) in collaboration with The Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP) to increase STEM initiatives. STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) is a critical part of student education, and this grant will enhance the already engaged students.

This grant will allow MWJDS to introduce its youngest students to Robotics, through integrated programming utilizing multiple robotics kits. Cooperative teams of teachers are being created to support this enhanced student learning. Hands on science learning will be supported and monitored by the teachers who have been trained in the Robotics programs, as well as he GFCT and CJP.

Education at MWJDS strives to involve children of multiple grade levels, and Kindergarteners have already been introduced to computer programming, by working cohesively with their Fourth Grade Buddies. A Robotics program will strengthen their interest and ability, and allow them to share their knowledge and enthusiasm across the school.

MWJDS is a safe and nurturing environment where children learn and grow to their fullest potential. At MWJDS, each child’s education is an individual experience with equal emphasis on their own accomplishments and their engagement within the community. The key to our success is a first class general studies education within the context of Jewish values and culture.
