FOX25 to Spotlight Sudbury During Friday Newscast Live From Wayside Inn

There will be a long list of segments airing from Sudbury, spotlighting the best people and places in town.

If you watch the Friday morning news, you may see some familiar faces and places on FOX25.

The Boston-based television station will take its Zip Trip program to Sudbury on Friday, broadcasting live from the Wayside Inn from 6-10 a.m.

Sudbury residents are invited to join FOX25 co-hosts Gene Lavanchy and Shannon Mulaire, meteorologist Shiri Spear, news commentator Doug "VB" Goudie, and reporter Lilly Hopkins as the air a variety of programs based on people and places in Sudbury.

The segments aired on the broadcast will feature the following, according to FOX25:

  • Taste of the Town: Local restaurants, cafés or bakeries demonstrate savory dishes and sweet treats!
  • Home Town Team: A salute to a youth or senior team ranging from baseball and soccer to the local running club!
  • Zip Trip Trivia: VB tries to stump a special guest with town trivia.
  • Home Town Hero: Meet the local hero who helps out whenever needed! We'll feature a resident who's making a difference.
  • On the Market: Why is Sudbury a great place to live? Preview homes in three price points and hear about schools, services and recreation.
  • Firehouse Fridays: Sudbury’s finest will be honored for all they do.
  • Talk of the Town: Every town has one – the local character in Sudbury.
  • Zip Trip Fan of the Week: We'll pick someone from the crowd as our Fan of the Week.
  • High Speed Deal: On-site scavenger hunt game for Zip Trip attendees.
  • Zip Trip Jr. Reporter: We'll select a young viewer from the crowd to help us with a few reporter duties.
  • Kids’ Fun Zone: Bouncy house and children’s activities.
  • Town Tour: Check out Sudbury’s best eats, must-see attractions, hidden gems, and little known landmarks!
  • Morning Warm-up: Rise and shine with a few morning exercises. 

FOX25 has made Zip Trips to more than 187 communities over its 11 seasons.

"The live broadcasts give citizens across New England 'bragging rights' and a chance to show us what makes their hometown a great place to live," Zip Trip producers said in advance of Friday's telecast.

Residents in attendance at the Zip Trip will have the chance to register to win a new Mazda3. In addition, there will be other prizes, games, and free product sampling.
