Tarek Mehanna Asks for Full Appeals Court Hearing

Sudbury native was convicted of terrorism charges in 2011.

Lawyers for Sudbury native Tarek Mehanna have asked a federal appeals court to hold a new hearing for the convicted terrorism supporter, saying a three-person panel contradicted the court’s previous rulings when it decided last month to uphold Mehanna’s conviction, the Boston Globe reports.

Mehanna's lawyers asked the Court of Appeals for the First Circuit to order a new panel hearing or to hold a full hearing with all its judges, according to the Globe.

Mehanna was convicted in 2011 of terrorism charges, including conspiracy to support Al Qaeda.
