Sudbury Native Sets Box Office Record With 'Captain America' Opening

Chris Evans' feature film Captain America set a record for the largest ever April opening.

Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School graduate Chris Evans found major success on the big screen with the opening of his Hollywood film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

Evans stars as Super Soldier in the movie, which opened over the weekend to a total of $96.2 million.

CNN reported that the movie's opening weekend total set a record for the best ever April opening.

The movie also received strong reviews from critics and audiences alike. According to movie review website Rotten Tomatoes, audiences gave Captain America a 95% positive rating, while critics gave it an 89% positive score.

Before the movie came out, Evans held an advanced screening for groups of "Sudbury heroes" at Framingham's AMC Theater.

Before making it in Hollywood, Evans grew up in Sudbury and attended Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, where he was active in the theater community.
