Construction of New L-S Softball Field About Halfway Complete

Field was leveled last week.

Renovations for the Lincoln-Sudbury softball field project is about halfway done, and so far no surprises have caused any delays.

During the Sept. 10 Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School Committee meeting, Business Manager Glenn Fratto reported all is going as planned.

"The irrigation is 75 percent complete," he said. "The two biggest things are making sure the material under the sod is a proper mixture. The surveyor has staked the site, removed the bad clay, and mixed in the loom and sand."

The field was leveled late last week.

The renovations, with a price tag of $274,000, will be paid for by Sudbury’s Community Preservation Act funds after the Selectmen voted to sign the contract in August. The CPA will contribute $256,000 while the rest is being paid for by an $18,000 donation from the Friends of Lincoln-Sudbury Softball.

Marshall also said funding from Lincoln ($50,000) for the project had not been secured yet.
