First Day of School:

September 3, 2013 is the first day of school.  The 2013-2014 school calendar may be found at the following link:  SPS 2013-2014 Calendar

*** Please note that schools are closed on Thursday, September 5, 2013.

Bus Routes and Schedules:

Please be aware that Landham Road remains closed due to construction and will impact travel to school next week.  Our Transportation Coordinator, Ms. Annalisa Michielli, has worked diligently with the bus company, Sudbury DPW, and Sudbury PD to make necessary adjustments to bus schedules. In light of the closure of Landham Road, we anticipate that there may be delays due to increased traffic in town and we appreciate your patience during this time.  We will update you when the road is re-opened and we are able to resume normal bus routes and schedules.

Buses Affected by Landham Rd Closure

Certain Loring and Curtis Buses will be affected by the recent closure of Landham Rd.  We are working with Town officials and the bus company to minimize the impact on our students.  Bus passes will not need to be re-issued during this time.  Staff will be available at Curtis and Loring to assist students when they arrive at school and when they are departing for home.

Potentially any buses and stops located on Boston Post Rd between Raymond Rd and east of Landham Rd may be impacted by the traffic being re-routed to Raymond Rd.

Once Landham Rd is re-opened, we will return to our normal, previously posted schedule and routes.  Please watch our website for the latest updates and information.  If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact Annalisa Michielli at 978-639-3215 or annalisa_michielli@sudbury.k12.ma.us.

   Curtis Middle School:

·       Curtis Bus#5 AM, Curtis Bus#7 AM, and Curtis Bus#9 AM will start 15 mins earlier than previously scheduled.  The new start time will be 6:50am.  Please review the new bus routes posted on our website.

·       Curtis students residing north of Stagecoach Dr. will need to use the Brookside Farm Ln bus stop.

·       Curtis Bus#5 and Curtis Bus#9 bus stops have been re-ordered.  Please check the schedule.

   Loring Elementary:

·       Loring Bus#1 will begin 5 mins earlier than previously posted.  The new start time will be 7:25am.

·       The stops at Stagecoach Dr and Landham Rd and Brookside Farm Ln and Landham Rd will be moved to Loring Bus#7 for both AM and PM.  Please review the routes for stop times.

·       Loring students residing north of Stagecoach Drive will need to use either the Stagecoach Dr or Brookside Farm Ln stops.

District Vision and Goals for 2013-2014:

At SPS, we are focused on meeting the learning needs of all students and supporting our teaching staff to attain that goal.  SPS has maintained a strongcommitment to excellence and consistently shows high levels of student achievement when compared with other districts in the state.  Indeed, we have been commended for particular subject and grade level performance on the MCAS which is the standardized assessment system for the state of Massachusetts.  In addition, we intentionally maintain a focus on the safety (physical as well as social/emotional) of students and staff by implementing research-based strategies and analyzing the impact of strategies implemented.

Although we have much to be proud of, we face challenges that provide opportunities for us to enhance our work with our students and with each other. As a professional community, we continuously examine our practices and analyze student progress data to inform determination of areas of focus for our continued professional growth.  We have many exciting things planned for students and staff this year as we focus on implementing high quality, differentiated instruction in a safe environment and increasing our use of instructional technology to provide rich learning opportunities for all learners.  Please see our  district strategic objectives  document for more detail.
